Alan Cichela (1980), freelance illustrator and professor. Living and working in Criciúma, SC. I hold a Master's degree in History, Theory, and Art Criticism from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and currently work as a faculty member in the Visual Arts program, as well as a researcher at the GPA - Art Research Group, at the University of Southern Santa Catarina (Unesc).

My main influences include sequential art, Baroque art, contemporary painting, and conceptual art, as well as animations and the ligne claire style. I find it difficult to define my style, as I believe it may limit the creative process. I am constantly learning, exploring new possibilities and paths in art.

​

In drawing, I like to navigate between cartoonish and realistic approaches, focusing on details and the repetitive gestures inherent to the techniques. The line or stroke is the element that fascinates me the most, as it intensely captures the movement on paper.

​

In painting, I follow an approach that I consider almost ritualistic. The paint, often heavily textured, transforms into a dance across the surface, marking the space expressively and sparking reflections on the pictorial act itself.

​

I dedicate myself intensely to painting but always think of it as an extension of drawing: a process that unfolds into other creative practices. For me, every creation is an opportunity to explore new forms of expression and deepen my connection with art.

Alan Cichela (1980), ilustrador freelancer e professor. Vivo e trabalho em Criciúma/SC. Sou mestre em História, Teoria e Crítica da Arte pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) e atuo como docente no curso de Artes Visuais, além de pesquisador no GPA - Grupo de Pesquisa em Arte, da Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (Unesc).

Minhas principais influências incluem a arte sequencial, a arte barroca, a pintura contemporânea e a arte conceitual, além de animações e o estilo da linha-clara. Não consigo definir meu estilo, pois acredito que ele pode limitar o processo criativo. Estou em constante aprendizado, explorando novas possibilidades e caminhos na arte.

No desenho, gosto de transitar entre o cartunesco e o realista, com foco nos detalhes e nos gestos repetitivos das técnicas. A linha ou o traço é o elemento que mais me fascina, pois, captura de forma intensa o movimento sobre o papel.

​

Na pintura, sigo uma abordagem que considero quase ritualística. A tinta, muitas vezes carregada, transforma-se em uma dança sobre o suporte, marcando o espaço de forma expressiva e trazendo reflexões sobre o ato pictórico em si.

Dedico-me intensamente à pintura, mas sempre a penso como uma extensão do desenho: um processo que se desdobra em outras práticas criativas. Para mim, cada criação é uma oportunidade de explorar novas formas de expressão e aprofundar minha conexão com a arte.
